MANUFACTURING A major food manufacturer needed assistance with scanning ingredient lists so it could share the information between its different offices. Because of the quantity of products being manufactured and the number of different employees who needed access to the ingredient lists, the manufacturer could no longer operate a paper-based system.
Enter File-X. Our Expert Technical Consultants determined that the client not only needed their files to be scanned and stored electronically, but that the client would also need to be able to search through the lists of ingredients for particular words (requiring OCR [Optical Character Recognition] technology).
File-X was able to provide the appropriate solution by first performing low-cost scanning and processing of the ingredient lists. The electronic files were then transferred to the VFR (Virtual File-X Room) located on a computer server, which allowed for multiple user access.
The manufacturer reported immediate office efficiencies and cost savings. In addition, the manufacturer was able to avoid a work stoppage when one of its ingredients was questioned. Because of the quick retrieval time of a digital document filing system, questions were met with quick answers and the production lines kept rolling.
